Big Data TED Talks

Out of the two TED Talks I personally liked Big data is better data by Kenneth Cukier more because he provided both the negative side and positive side of big data whereas Your social media “likes” expose more than you think by Jennifer Golbeck only provides the positives around big data. According to both TED Talks big data is going to be very useful for predicting information based on the information we give out on the internet. It was very interesting how Jennifer Golbeck linked curly fries to people who were intelligent based off how peoples relationships are based off intelligence and common interests. So this means that big data could be very useful for creating new relationships but there are also negatives. Kenneth Cukier discusses how big data decreases are personal security by constantly collecting all our data all the time and could also eventually take our jobs with the correct programming.

Is there actually encryption software that could protect our data from being used in big data?

If big data could eventually take our jobs, would it be through robots?
